Join our Virtual live meditation group on Thursdays at noon
Benefits of Meditation
The benefits of meditation include reduced stress and anxiety, improved concentration, immune system and cardiovascular health, increased self-awareness, happiness, and acceptance, slowed aging and other numerous health and physical benefits. In our time of COVID the benefits of meditation cannot be overstated! Additionally, meditation has been shown to create positive functional and structural changes in the brain and throughout the body. In other words, your brain and body work better in the moment, but also experience foundational changes to their very structure and long-term wellbeing. Consistent meditation practice has been shown to increase a person's baseline level of happiness and deepen their sense of flourishing. In short, routine meditation practice can change the foundation of how you navigate your life - especially during these stressful times.
The Mind and Heart Lab is blessed to have a special relationship with the Dhammakaya International Meditation Center (DIMC) in Azusa Ca. In place of our face-to-face weekly meditation group in the lab, Venerable Sophon has agreed to lead a virtual meditation group open to the Cal Poly community. We will meet at 12pm on Thursdays (we start assembling at 12 - the meditation starts at 12:10). We are done at 12:50 for those on a regular work schedule.
